This year my siblings and parents decided that instead of stressing about and shopping for gifts for each other we would use the money for a greater cause. We decided we would look for some type of need and donate the money that we would have spent on each other. We kept hearing about an anonymous family who was really struggling in our neighborhood. We don't know who it is but our bishop has been asking for sub-for-santa donations for this family for the past several weeks. We decided that this needy family is going to be the recipient of our gift. We were able to give $80 that will be combined with many other donations to hopefully bring peace, joy and happiness to another family this Christmas.

My sweet sister-in-law gave us an idea at the family Christmas party. She gave each of us a small bell and told us to carry it around in our pockets. She said that anytime you hear the bell jingle, think of something you can do for someone else. Then she brought out two big pieces of fleece that she bought so that we could tie the edges and make blankets. We knew of one member of our extended family who is in need of extra comfort so one of the blankets would go to them. She asked us to try to think of someone who might need the other blanket as we tied the edges. My two oldest kids got right in there and helped their cousins tie the edges and both blankets were done in 15 minutes! The second blanket ended up going to a family in our neighborhood who is having a hard time financially right now. I know it will bring them great comfort!
